Community Interests

Jurassic Kahili Ranch is a working cattle ranch and land management company owned by WMAS Management LLC. The mission of JKR is to steward the land responsibly, leaving a positive and lasting legacy for generations to come. JKR supports a number of community and educational programs on Kaua`i and Hawai`i and is funded by Walter and Marcia Kortschak. Among the organizations with which JKR is involved are the following:

Kaulele Education Services (Kilauea, HI) www.kaulele.com
Kaulele Education Services on Kaua`i's North Shore offers educational evaluation, academic tutoring, and other consultation for students of all ages who may be struggling with academic skills, seeking greater enrichment and motivation, or considering school changes. Kaulele is committed to building supportive, individual relationships that provide guidance and skills to better the lives of a wide range of students.

Kilauea Point Natural History Association (Kilauea, HI) www.kilaueapoint.org
The Kilauea Point Natural History Association (KPNHA) works in cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to promote interpretive, educational, and scientific projects that focus on Hawaii and to develop environmental awareness among Hawaii's children. The Kortschak Family Foundation has contributed to the capital campaign to restore the Kilauea Lighthouse as a historic landmark on the North Shore.

ASSETS School is an independent school for gifted and/or dyslexic children which provides an individualized, integrated learning environment. ASSETS' environment empowers these children to maximize their potential and to find their places as lifelong learners in school and society. ASSETS School specializes in serving children and young people from 5 to 18 years of age whose capability is greater than their achievement and those who are in need of acceleration and enrichment.

The Nature Conservancy is the leading conservation organization working to protect the most ecologically important lands and waters around the world for nature and people. The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive. JKR is a member of the Corporate Council for the Environment in Hawaii.

The Kauai Humane Society, a society for the prevention of cruelty to animals, is an independent and private organization dedicated to ensuring compassionate, informed care of all Kauai's animals and promoting the human-animal bond.

Kauai Public Land Trust (Kilauea, HI) www.kauaipubliclandtrust.org
The mission of the Kauai Public Land Trust (KPLT) is to work with others to use land conservation tools to preserve Kauai. KPLT seeks solutions for land conservation by acquiring land through donations and purchases for the benefit of the public, securing conservation easements on land and monitoring the terms of the easements and working in partnership with private and governmental conservation agencies.

The Kapa`a High School Foundation promotes scholastic, academic, sports and extracurricular and school-related activities of the students of Kapa`a High School and to recognize students and advisors engaged in such activities. JKR is a contributor to the Kapa`a Warrior Football program.
